about
For those of you who don't know me my name is Mario Di Sandro. I moved to the Bay Area (first in Oakland, now San Francisco) of CA from Chicago, IL (Berwyn) in June of 2011. Before i moved I had the daunting task to finish up this little album that was so close to being complete. With the help of my good friend and head mixer and master(er) guru, Mr. Kevin Brown, we were able to finish all the necessary in-person technical recording items. I drove off across the country and started to settle in. Kevin worked hard at mixing and mastering the record while I looked for work and a new band as well as places to start playing out here.
I got the great news that the record was done and that Kevin would be sending the mastered versions of the tracks over to me. I immediately created this bandcamp page to stream and sell the newly acquired tracks. I knew I would have to give away a few copies in order to get the word out, so who better to give my first 2 copies to then Eddie Vedder and Glen Hansard. It was a crazy moment, probably one of the best of my life. Ed was very kind and gracious about it, and Glen whom I'd ran into in Long Beach, as well as Ed, had already listened to my cd and was singing back to me lyrics to my song 'Highway 1'. I asked him "you actually listened to it?", in which Glen replied in his thick Irish accent "ah fuck yea, we were jammin to it down the highway". I immediately had to change my pants after that, haha. I had a good feeling after that...
So what am I asking you to do? Simply to take a listen to my new album, it's free to stream it, and if you like it, which I believe you will, then please buy it. Currently, the job market is very bleak in the Bay Area/California in general (yea, real smart to move there now, Mario!), so this is technically speaking my only form of income—thru sales generated from people buying my new album. [update: i've currently found some work, but in today's market you never know how long you'll have that job] So, I'd greatly appreciate your kind ears and mouths. Even if you can't afford the super low price of $5 that I'm asking for (which in turn i only make 4.55 from each sale), then please 'repost' this or invite friends to it, share the link:
mariodisandro.bandcamp.com, or just by plain old fashioned 'word of mouth'. I can't thank those of you who have already bought my new album enough, I am forever grateful for your kindness and generosity. I hope you enjoy my music and that you share it with others.
With the album you get 5 mastered tracks, 1 bonus video of me playing the song 'Highway 1' (acoustic) on the Ocean in San Clemente off of Highway 1 (PCH). Downloadable .pdf artwork file to assemble your own physical cd digi-pak case. Multiple photos that were taken by me and Kevin Brown throughout the recording session. Plus other freebies that will be sent to you later.
Thank you!
+ mario

This album is dedicated to my mom, without her continued support, constant love and inspiration, this record would not have been possible. I'd also like to thank Kevin Brown for taking the time to record these 5 simple songs and turning them into something much greater than I could have ever imagined. Also, Henry Rivera for learning drums in such a short period of time and really capturing the energy that I was looking for in these songs.
I'd also like to thank Marcus Reidy for letting me be a neurotic bandmate and force you to try these and other new songs out live even with just a couple of practices in. My other bandmate, Andrew Welebir, for putting up with me for all these years. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have written 'Ricochet' and all the many other songs that came out of that first jam session some 10 years ago. Raul Parra, always an inspiration on drums and getting me to be a more disciplined musician, for that I thank you. Bryan Zehar, for constantly keeping me on my toes and encouraging me to keep playing and writing music, your friendship has proven eternal. Derek Zehar, my other best friend and champion of laughter, thank you for always coming out to the shows and being present and caring about the music that I made. Dave Chrastka for allowing me a glimpse into the music industry so long ago, even if we were much younger, and for supplying me with my first powered Marshall amp—without it I would have stuck to lame sappy acoustic songs. Viva la distortion!
There are so many others that I would like to thank, and you know who you are. To name a few: My Family, Eric Georgevich, Bearsnake, Larry Artz, Brennan Dortch, Kristine Vesper, Jeni Lukin, Mayra Zuniga, Rachel Komar, Kris Traff (we'll record one day!), Kurt Stirnkorb, Eddie Vedder, Glen Hansard, Liam Finn, Neil Young, John Doe, Star Anna, Justin Davis, Nick La Rocco, John Walski, Brian Wittenberg, Joe Maxfield, Shannon and Erika Owens, Jennifer Murphy, Jessica Sytsma, Jessica Henry, Jessica Jurgenson, Stefanie Motte, Tyler Brinegar, Adam Pluth, Stephanie Plenner, Stephanie Mostowski, Deron Wade, Jasper Dickson, Noah Murphy, Angelo Bundini, Tony Vasquez, Antonello Tito, Ronnie Lotz, Silvie Mitrovich, Brian Bender, John Kucjzak, Mat Festa, Céline Hall, Sara Hofverberg, Laura Trafton, Rob Bleetstein, Emily Sevin, Adam Del Rio, Jillian Valentino, Kelly Chicoine, Katie Kouba, Kim Hoban and so many more.
